“I feel like dance makes me more expressive and alive really. Dance for me is like a meditation”.
Kaner Flex is a self-taught dancer and movement artist and after being spotted by FKA Twigs busking on his home streets of London in 2014, he joined her to perform at the prestigious Mercury Prize Awards Show. Flex later found himself landing a major global campaign alongside Twigs for Calvin Klein Jeans iconic ‘#InMyCalvin’s’ SS16 photoshoot and feature film.
His unique style of ‘Contortion Tutting’ - illustrating his strength, flexibility, poise and power - has made him a recognisable name in the dance world, securing interviews with i-D Magazine and spotlight features in Dazed magazine. Talk of Flex stretches far beyond just the dance community; his modelling career has seen him grace Vogue Homme and work on campaigns with Napajiri, Uniqlo, H&M and Carrera.
His dance style breaks through the realm of street dance and transcends past being simply contortion to become an amalgamation of the two: This is where he finds his purest form of self-expression.
Kaner says, “I feel like dance makes me more expressive and alive really. Dance for me is like a meditation”.
